The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Restorative Justice has today published their report of the inaugural Inquiry which took place over the summer. The Inquiry, titled ‘Restorative Practices in 2021/22’ sought to assess where the sector is at the moment, and what steps could be taken to improve and coordinate the various services to improve outcomes for victims and offenders. The Inquiry marked the first major piece of work for the APPG, which was only constituted in April 2021.

Calm Mediation are seeking an experienced Restorative Justice Practitioner to coordinate the pan-London RJ Service. The RJ Coordinator will be the first point of contact for all referrals into the service and will manage a busy and varied case load. The RJC is pleased to announce that the established Restorative Approaches: Theory and Practice Level 5 course, run by the Royal Borough of Greenwich has gained RJC Approved Course status. The Level 5 programme has been designed to develop practitioners with both theoretical and practical excellence and is unique in its focus of combining the crucial elements of theory, practice and implementation.
As a Restorative Justice Facilitator you will work with victims and perpetrators of crime to support them in addressing the harm caused and finding a positive way forward. This could be through a face to face meeting between the parties or through shuttle mediation. The role includes generating referrals by raising awareness of Restorative Justice, risk assessing cases, fully preparing both parties before any intervention takes place, and facilitating communication between the parties.
