Wales Restorative Approaches Partnership (WRAP) awarded the TPQM

The RJC is pleased to announce that Wales Restorative Approaches Partnership (WRAP) has been awarded the Training Provider Quality Mark (TPQM).

Jon Collins, the RJC’s chief executive, said:

“WRAP has demonstrated through successfully completing the TPQM that it is providing the highest quality restorative practice training.  It is a great testimony to the whole team at WRAP that it has achieved this in addition to holding the Restorative Services Quality Mark (RSQM).”

RJC publishes report on improving victim take-up of restorative justice

The RJC is pleased to announce the publication of a new research report – Improving victim take-up of restorative justice.

The report, written by Janet Bright, explores the barriers to victims participating in restorative justice and what can be done to address them. It is the result of an eight-month research project which involved interviews with practitioners, service managers and victims - both those who had taken part in restorative justice and those who had chosen not to do so.

Restorative justice and domestic violence – getting it right

Last week, Sam Gyimah – a minister at the Ministry of Justice – confirmed, in an answer to a parliamentary question tabled by Labour MP Christina Rees, that the government believes that ‘there can be a place for restorative justice in domestic abuse cases alongside prosecution’.

Job opportunity - Restorative justice facilitator, National Offender Management Service (NOMS)

The National Offender Management Service (NOMS) is recruiting a full-time Restorative Justice Facilitator, based at HMP Hewell Lane, Redditch. 

The job holder will assess whether offenders and victims are suitable for a restorative justice victim/prisoner conference. They will prepare participants identify risks and put safeguards in place to manage these risks before they bring the victim and prisoner together to facilitate a conference. The job holder will also be required to organise and prepare rooms and resources for conferences. 

Salary; £22,640 - £25,225

Should there be a restorative response to sexual harassment?

Last week, following the Article 50 vote in the House of Commons, it was widely reported that the secretary of state for Brexit, David Davis, tried to kiss the shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, who had reluctantly supported the government’s Bill. In response, she reportedly told him to ‘fuck off’.
