Restorative Mentoring Practitioner - Illicit Economy

Remedi are recruiting a Restorative Mentor. The role will be 35 hours per week and wil be located within HMP Humber. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team environment including Safer Custody, Security and other functions that support prisoners within the establishment. The role will be challenging and exciting as you will be working in a demanding environment, providing an opportunity to empower change. While giving the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to work with and contribute meaningfully to the experiences of offenders and staff in a prison environment.
The successful candidates primary aims are to identify prisoners who may be at risk/ vulnerable to becoming involved in the Illicit Economy and provide early intervention to minimise these risks and provide relevant support at the earliest opportunity. The intervention work will be delivered across the establishment and will require the person to work closely with prisoners and Prison Staff.
This work has 4 main strands:
- An initial Needs Assessment with every new prisoner who transfers into HMP Humber to assess vulnerabilities, risk and potential areas of need to determine appropriate support pathways
- The recruitment, training and co-ordination of community peer mentors within the prison
- Supervision and quality assurance of interventions provided by peer mentors
- The delivery of Remedi restorative interventions in the Illicit economy model we are introducing
