Dr Clair Aldington

Registered Practitioner - Advanced

Description

I am a freelance Restorative Practitioner with over 20 years experience. I am trained to work with sexual harm cases (2018) and am also Safe and Together core trained (2023) - domestic abuse informed practice. I also hold a practice based PhD in the role of design processes in Restorative Practice. I am available as a Restorative facilitator, consultant, trainer and researcher.

I am also an artist and designer and have pioneered the making of handmade objects as part of restorative practices. This way of working can aid engagement post-trauma whilst also promoting inclusivity through decreasing the reliance on verbal communication which can be a barrier for some participants.

I was part of the Reparation and then the RJ Team with Oxfordshire Youth Offending Service (2001-2007) and co-founded Space2face, a restorative justice service in the north of Scotland in 2008.

I have transferable skills through working as an artist on long term arts projects in a prison, an immigration removal centre, in women's refuges, with adults with learning disabilities, and in schools.

Areas of Practice:
