The RJC would like to congratulate Surrey Youth Restorative Intervention, part of Surrey Youth Support Service and Surrey Police, which received the Howard League Restorative Justice Community Award at an award ceremony in London this week.

The Howard League Community Awards celebrate best practice in diversionary and champion work in the community that challenges and changes people for the better.

Surrey Youth Restorative Intervention is a victim-led scheme bringing victims together with those who have offended in a restorative meeting. The scheme has a 91% victim satisfaction rate and has seen an 18% reduction in reoffending since its introduction.

Congratulations also go to Remedi’s Homicide and Serious/Complex Case Restorative Justice Team, who were runners up in the category and RJC trustee, ACC Garry Shewan, who was runner up in the Criminal Justice Champion Award category.
