New film shows restorative justice in action

The RJC and Why me? have co-produced Recovering from crime – restorative justice in action, a new film providing an insight into what a real restorative justice conference looks like.
Recovering from crime is based on the transcript of an actual restorative justice meeting between a burglary victim and her offender, with actors portraying the people who took part. It was directed and filmed using a technique called verbatim, where the actors are fed their lines through an earpiece.
Jon Collins, the RJC’s CEO, said: “One of the first things people being offered restorative justice often want to know is what a real conference looks like. This film will give them some of the information they need, and enable them to make an informed decision about whether to take part in restorative justice themselves. We hope that it’s going to be a valuable resource for both facilitator training and for potential participants.”
