About the post

Act as the first point of contact for incoming Restorative referrals, ensuring both victims and offenders are fully informed. Ensure arrangements are in place for victims of crime and offenders participating in Restorative Justice to have access to support during the process, which may include sign posting to a relevant service.

Use a case management system to maintain a case load and be responsible for progressing referrals including undertaking risk assessments and case reviews, liaison with referrers and other agencies and attend RJ approval panels.

Lead the development of the Bedfordshire Restorative Practice Service, ensuring the key deliverables of the service are met on time and to high standards. Manage risks, issues and learning on behalf of the programme, ensuring that the service adheres to all relevant legislation, policies, procedures and best practice.

Lead on developing and managing proactive relationships with local partners including Police, YOTs, Probation, CSPs, Local Authorities, voluntary and community sector, prisons, schools and other agencies. Provide hands-on support to local partners and agencies, supporting them in the delivery of restorative justice and challenging the quality and quantity of referrals to the service.

Recruit, train and manage volunteers and maintain a database of restorative practice facilitators from a range of agencies and the local community from which to allocate the most appropriate facilitator to a case to progress a restorative justice intervention. Provide effective case supervision for all cases. Design and organise CPD and volunteer networking events.

Lead on creating and delivering training packages and raising awareness programmes for relevant staff, volunteers and partner agencies to ensure up to date understanding of these approaches.

Ensure all training materials are up to date and in accordance with the Restorative Justice Council Training Framework.

Maintain and renew any Restorative Justice Council membership and registration.

Manage and co-ordinate restorative projects inspired by the Police and Crime Plan and produce progress reports and evaluations.

Maintain and monitor robust data collection and information systems to enable effective evaluation of RJ interventions and report progress to the PCC/DPCC/OPCC

Lead on service policies and protocols (including privacy notices, GDPR and data retention policy), providing guidance to ensure that they are kept up to date on a regular basis, staff and volunteers understand and comply with them and that they are reviewed annually.

Attend and represent the PCC’s Office at internal and external meetings and chair the regional RJ provider quarterly meetings. Act as a point of contact for restorative practice within Bedfordshire.
