Restorative Practice Training Officer
Torbay Council have an exciting opportunity for a Restorative Practice Training Officer to work within the Learning Academy team within Children’s Services to support the Restorative Practice Lead to continue to drive forward with their innovative Restorative Practice Journey.
Torbay are committed to a restorative and relational model of working ‘WITH’ our children, young people, and families, so they remain at the heart of our practice. Restorative and relational based practice describes a way of being, an underpinning ethos, which enables them to build and maintain healthy relationships, resolve difficulties, and repair harm when relationships breakdown.
In their recent inspection, OFSTED praised the progress and commitment to the use of restorative practice in making a positive impact on the lives of children and families “A restorative practice model focuses on working with families. An ethos of ‘doing with’ rather than ‘doing to’ is progressively becoming embedded across services, leading to more sophisticated and effective direct work with children and their families”.
To be successful in this role they are seeking a confident and experienced trainer who can design and deliver in-house restorative training programme opportunities and events to support the ongoing development of the workforce and partner agencies to meet best practice standards. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills to be able to confidently identify opportunities to teach and model the skills of restorative practice to make a difference to the lives of children and families, colleagues, and partner agencies.
As well as supporting the Restorative Practice Lead, you will also be responsible for mentoring and developing restorative practice champions to improve and embed practice across the breadth of Children Services. It is essential you have an enthusiasm and passion for restorative practice and understand the ethos, theory and application underpinning restorative practice approaches.
