Policy Advisor to the Victims Commissioner

This is an exciting opportunity to join the small but ambitious team supporting London’s Victims’ Commissioner, Claire Waxman OBE. Working alongside the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), the London Victim Commissioner's office aims to ensure that victims’ voices are heard, and that their experiences inform and shape legislation, practices, polices, services, and provision that directly impact victims. 

As Policy Advisor to the Victim’s Commissioner, you will:

  1. Research, construct and advise on policy options to inform the work of the Victims Commissioner and ensure coordination and communication of these with strategies with MOPAC, the Mayor’s Office and Mayoral Advisers
  2.  Develop and maintain effective partnerships with a wide range of specialist stakeholders on behalf of, and to represent the Victims Commissioner, where applicable.
  3. Advise on and manage communication routes between Victims Commissioner and MOPAC officers and Mayoral Advisers on issues and policy management, and lead on the external messaging, media lines and social media related to the Victims Commissioner.
  4. Work with the GLA Mayor’s Office, Mayoral Advisers and other colleagues to develop and ensure the co-ordinated and effective delivery of the Mayor’s agenda in relation to victims.

This role is central to the function of the office of the Victim’s Commissioner and provides an opportunity to directly shape the policy agenda for victims in London.

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

Hours | 37 hours per week

Salary | £51,410 - £58,747 per annum
