The Youth Offending Service promotes a restorative ethos, their aims are to offer victims of youth crime an informed choice, about involvement in restorative approaches, to support victims through the process and enable them to engage in services both internal and external to YOS to meet their needs. Working in compliance with the Victim’s Code of Practice, the Victim Officer will be able to utilise their skills and experience to champion restorative practices and enable children and young people to engage in activities to repair the harm caused to victims.

Key Responsibilities

To provide a focal point for restorative services to victims (in accordance with the Victim’s Code of Practice). To children and to those in the wider community who have been impacted by youth crime. This will include the facilitation of all restorative processes including restorative conferences.

You will need:

  • Experience/Knowledge of working with individuals or communities who have impacted by antisocial behaviour or offences committed by a child or young person
  • Ability to facilitate restorative meetings
  • Effective engagement, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Able to build rapport and display empathy

Hours | 37 hours per week - Temporary (Currently funded until 31st March 2023 through an established funding stream, which has been in place for the past 10 years)

Salary | Grade 6, SCP 14 – 19, £23,484 - £25,927
