Three organisations achieve the RSQM

The RJC is pleased to announce that three more services have achieved the Restorative Service Quality Mark (RSQM). The Kingston and Richmond Youth Offending Service, Restorative Thinking Limited and Victims First Northumbria all now hold the RSQM.

Jon Collins, the RJC’s chief executive, said: “I would like to congratulate these organisations on their hard work and dedication to providing excellent restorative practice. Anyone accessing their services is guaranteed a safe and effective restorative process.”

The RSQM is a badge of quality which demonstrates that a service provides safe, high quality restorative practice which meets the six Restorative Service Standards. These organisations join other RSQM awardees – in sectors ranging from criminal justice through education to care – which are guaranteed to deliver consistently high quality restorative work.

Alison Carey, restorative programme lead at Kingston and Richmond Youth Offending Service said: “Initially just a few of us in the team were championing the RSQM, but by the end everyone got on board and it felt like a real team effort. 

“It gave us a framework from which to improve and enabled us to ensure we were providing the best quality of restorative practice that we could. It was also an external endorsement of our work for anyone wanting to take part in a restorative process.”

Simon Smart, restorative justice coordinator for Victims First Northumbria, said: “The RJC have supported this process every step of the way, they were always contactable. 

“Finding out that we received the RSQM was immensely satisfying as it means that the service’s quality has been recognised. As a relatively new service, the development points will act as the basis to improve what we do.”

Lesley Parkinson, executive director at Restorative Thinking Limited, said: “The process of achieving the RSQM has helped us to articulate, formally, how we operate as an organisation. 

“It supports innovation in how organisations operate internally and externally - we have introduced visible policies and procedures that gives us real confidence in what we do and how we do it.”
