The RJC has commissioned Sheffield Hallam University to undertake a mapping exercise of restorative justice providers within the criminal justice sector in England and Wales. This opportunity will enable police and crime commissioners (PCCs) to understand and expand on the existing provision in their areas and will create a directory of services which victims of crime will be able to use to check provision of services in their area.

This is the first time this kind of mapping has been done on a national scale, and will provide an accurate insight into opportunities for expansion within the restorative justice field.

The RJC’s chief executive officer, Jon Collins, said: “This is an exciting project which will help to provide information on the availability of restorative justice, highlight where there are gaps in provision and provide an opportunity for more victims to access restorative justice when they need it.”
