Restorative Justice Lead Practitioner/Mediator

Mediation training and experience a requirement - as a trained mediator with a knowledge of restorative justice you will act as an impartial third party who facilitates a meeting between two or more people in dispute, to help them reach an agreement.
Coordinating the administration of the mediation element of the service including working with volunteer mediators.
Also working with offenders and victims of crime and anti-social behaviour, both individually and in groups, to facilitate a process of communication between them through Restorative Justice (RJ).

As a trained mediator with a knowledge of restorative justice you will act as an impartial third party who facilitates a meeting between two or more people in dispute, to help them reach an agreement.
You will also work with offenders and victims of crime and anti-social behaviour, to facilitate a process of communication between them through Restorative Justice (RJ). This will involve working collaboratively with a wide range of agencies including North Yorkshire Police, Probation Service, Crown Prosecution Service, HM Courts, HM Prisons and other voluntary sector agencies in the delivery of RJ in North Yorkshire.
Main responsibilities are to provide mediation where two or more persons are in dispute. Obtaining consent from all parties, updating the case management system and undertaking the admin for the mediation element of the service. Engaging with volunteers to allocate cases where appropriate. Facilitate restorative justice conferences including community conferences working alongside partner agencies in order to coordinate restorative interventions to tackle an incident/series of incidents or ongoing anti-social/criminal behaviour that has affected individuals and community members. To work in a preventative way to reduce escalation, including crime, anti-social behaviour or complex neighbourhood disputes where multiple residents are involved.
Delivering both hate and violent crime awareness courses to further develop the opportunity for restorative justice to be engaged with.
We are looking for a trained mediator with experience of restorative practice or complimentary skills / experience and multi-agency partnership working across the criminal justice sector.
