Job opportunity: Restorative Justice Development Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join Why me?'s growing team who are passionate about the power and potential of Restorative Justice. The Development Officer will be responsible for improving the use of Restorative Justice for people affected by crime. 

They will do this by building relationships with agencies such as Youth Offending Teams, Police, victim and witness services, probation and voluntary organisations to inspire people to take up Restorative Justice, and to develop practical ways of  implementing it. The postholder will also be responsible for communications, dissemination and policy influencing related to the specific projects they are working on.

There are two projects which this role particularly focuses on.

Developing the use of Restorative Justice for LGBT+ hate crime in London, building on Why me?’s work over the last two years in London and nationally. The postholder will be building relationships with groups accessed by people affected by LGBT+ hate crime, and focussing on improving the use of RJ by Youth Offending teams in London for hate crime cases. 

Supporting Why me?’s national project to develop and promote the use of Restorative Justice in Youth Offending Teams. The post-holder will be working with individual youth justice teams to come up with solutions to support the wider use of RJ, with a particular focus on young BAME people affected by criminal and other harmful behaviour.

£30,000 per annum
