Job opportunity: Prison based Restorative Justice Manager, HMP Wormwood Scrubs

Criminal justice charity Belong provides hope, rehabilitation and recovery for victims and perpetrators of crime. Their services include mentoring, creative psychotherapy and restorative justice interventions. They work with children, young people and adults in custodial and community settings.

Belong has partnered with HMP Wormwood Scrubs to deliver a ground breaking, innovative restorative justice service at the prison. The service will build on a model developed in other UK prisons, offering restorative justice interventions in response to violent incidents and antisocial behaviour at HMP Wormwood. It will raise awareness amongst staff and prisoners at HMP Wormwood Scrubs of restorative approaches, their benefits and their suitability for use in a range of situations. In addition the project will inspire, train and support prisoners and prison staff members to become skilled, confident restorative justice facilitators.

The restorative justice service manager position provides an exciting opportunity for a reliable, organised, energetic person to join Belong's committed, specialist team and lead this project. The successful applicant will have strong leadership skills along with solid experience of managing projects within the criminal justice sector and preferably the prison service. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of securing stakeholder engagement in programs and of communicating effectively with individuals from a range of backgrounds. They will manage this project at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, deliver restorative justice interventions and support prison staff and/or prisoners to deliver restorative justice interventions as part of the project.

Place of work: HMP Wormwood Scrubs
Hours of work: Full time 35 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work required
Pay scale: £35,700 per annum
Contract: Fixed Term, 15 months with potential for renewal subject to funding availability and excellent performance.
Reports to: Director
National Security Vetting Required: Enhanced
