The Mint House (Oxford's Centre for Restorative Practice) is looking for a creative and engaging communicator who can help us grow understanding and use of restorative approaches. They are looking for someone who can strengthen their profile, engage diverse audiences and generate compelling (mainly online) content that links restorative approaches to key policy agendas and everyday concerns. You'll also play a key role in helping them share learning on what high quality restorative approaches mean in practice, and the difference they can make.

Key responsibilities involve

  • Managing and developing the Mint House website, ensuring content is engaging and up-to-date and reflects the Mint House aims
  • Developing and running the Mint House’s social media channels, supporting their growth and development and enhancing our reach to and dialogue with different audiences
  • Creating, researching, sourcing and editing compelling content for social media, website and other digital channels and occasional printed materials, drawing on news and sector sources, local and wider networks and multi-media content to keep Mint House audiences updated and engaged.
  • Collaborating with others to generate content and design events that relate restorative practice to current public and policy concerns.
  • Working with trustees to design, promote and deliver a varied programme of online and in person events geared to different audiences and that grow understanding of restorative approaches. As part of this, exploring possible paid-for events. Supporting events with live communications.
  • Monitoring the reach of, and responses to, the Mint House website and social media channels using findings to adjust approaches as appropriate.
  • Providing an initial response to enquiries from institutions seeking information, advice and support to embed restorative approaches
  • Maintaining the Mint House database of contacts, ensuring all data held and used has appropriate consents.

They are looking for someone with a good understanding and/or experience of restorative practice in criminal justice and/or other contexts. You'll also have strong knowledge of digital communications platforms and experience of producing content for a range of platforms.

An engaging and creative communicator, with an aptitude for linking different agendas creatively, you'll also have strong interpersonal and organisational skills and a high level of IT literacy.

You'll support the Mint House's aims and ethos and share our strong commitment to equality and diversity. A natural collaborator, you'll also be comfortable working independently.

Ideally you'll have a degree or equivalent qualification plus experience of website development and management and/or developing and managing events. Entrepreneurial flair would be an asset.

 

Location         

It is expected that the role to be home based, but with a need to attend meetings/events in Oxford on a regular basis (subject to COVID). Other travel to partner events/meetings may also be required from time to time. 

Hours           

15 hours per week. They are flexible on how these hours are spread, though will want to agree some core hours when the post-holder will be available routinely

Salary         

£24.9k - £27k pro rata (JNC scales 18-22) based on a 35 hour working week plus 5% pension contribution

Benefits

25 days a year plus all Bank Holidays, pro rata.
