Consultation results for the Competency Framework and Training Approval Scheme are now available
The RJC is pleased to announce that the results of the consultation on the Competency Framework and Training Approval Scheme have been published. We received a total of 112 consultation responses which we are using to inform the development of these two projects. Many experienced practitioners and trainers took part in the consultation process.
The RJC Competency Framework will set out the core knowledge, skills and behaviours that are required to undertake restorative practice. Restorative practice is a developing field and the RJC’s aim is to aid practitioner development. Defining the core skills required of practitioners will support this aim. For practitioners, the Competency Framework will support continuing professional development by helping people to identify gaps in their skills and determine where future development needs might lie.
The Training Approval Scheme is being specifically designed for facilitation training courses and will enable trainers to demonstrate that their courses meet the RJC’s standards. The Training Approval Scheme does not accredit individual trainers, only courses. The approval process will assess course content, and successful courses will be awarded RJC Training Approval. This will help learners and commissioners to recognise the quality of training courses.
We asked for feedback on various aspects of the Competency Framework and the Training Approval Scheme and would like to thank everyone who responded. Overall, there was widespread support for both projects, which will be launched soon.
