Bank Staff Restorative Wellbeing Listeners – Post Office Horizon IT Support Programme (Pilot)
The Restorative Justice Council has launched a pilot programme to support those harmed by the Post Office Horizon IT scandal who may prefer not to engage with traditional restorative justice processes. We are seeking compassionate and skilled Bank Staff Restorative Wellbeing Listeners to deliver confidential, supportive listening sessions on an as-needed basis. Work will be offered depending on participant demand and programme requirements.
Each participant will be offered up to six confidential sessions via secure online video or telephone, depending on their preference. This role is not part of any traditional restorative justice process; it is focused solely on wellbeing, recognition, and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities
- Accept and confirm case allocations when offered, ensuring flexibility to meet participant needs.
- Deliver up to six confidential listening sessions per participant, providing a safe, trauma-informed space to share experiences.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding protocols.
- Engage in monthly reflective supervision to ensure ongoing support, guidance, and personal well-being.
- Follow clear referral pathways for participants requiring mental health, financial, or legal support.
- Contribute to thematic reporting and feedback processes while protecting participant anonymity.
- Ensure case records are kept up to date on the online system.
- Attend training specifically designed to enhance empathy, active listening, and trauma-informed skills.
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience in active listening, emotional support, or similar roles (e.g., counselling, social work, advocacy).
- Understanding of trauma and its impact on victims.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to remain non-judgmental.
- Ability to work independently and flexibly, whilst adhering to strict safeguarding and confidentiality protocols.
- Commitment to reflective practice and participation in supervision.
- Ability to manage variable workload and respond promptly to session offers.
- Access to a laptop and phone, an email address and Microsoft Teams telephone number will be provided.

Remote (secure online video or telephone sessions)
This is a bank staff position with no guaranteed hours. Work will be allocated on a case-by-case basis according to participant needs. Sessions are typically scheduled during evenings and weekends, with each case involving up to six sessions plus associated administrative tasks.
£21.42 per hour for agreed sessions, with reimbursement of any approved travel and accommodation costs. Access to professional case supervision provided.
The recruitment process will involve two stages-
- Stage One: An online interview via Microsoft Teams in the New Year.
- Stage Two: Three days of comprehensive, paid training (£150 per day plus expenses) designed to enhance your skills in empathy, active listening, and trauma-informed practice. Completion of training does not guarantee a job offer. Following training, candidates who meet the required standards will be offered a role and added to our bank staff pool upon acceptance of the offer.
