2 Day Restorative Approaches in Schools Introduction

Our 2 day on-line introduction to restorative approaches in a primary, secondary and special setting. It will be delivered by Restorative Justice 4 Schools a leading training provider of restorative training to schools within the UK and Europe. Our personal experience of implementing a restorative approach comes from working directly within schools, this allows us to contextualise the implementation and delivering of restorative outcomes to pupils and staff and talk about any barriers you are likely to meet and how you may overcome them.

Our two-day Restorative Approaches training will introduce how your school can use a restorative option to build community and manage conflict. On completion of the training delegates will be able to:

  • Implement a restorative language and vocabulary within their school.
  • Deliver a restorative chat to manage low level conflict between peers/peers or peers/staff.
  • Bring together restorative approaches and classroom management
  • Plan the implementation of a restorative approach within their schools.
  • Understand which roles need to be involved and how this can be achieved.
  • Understand the principles of restorative justice and the wider educational approach.
  • Have a clear understanding of how restorative approaches can help to help build community and positive relationships within schools.
  • Enhance a positive learning environment.
  • Create fair, positive outcomes for pupils and students from conflict that also holds them to account and changes behaviour.
  • Allow schools to develop effective, behaviour changing support for pupils and students with SEND issues or those dealing with trauma.
  • Help schools bring a sanction system in line with a restorative approach to maximise the benefits of both systems.
  • Reduce exclusions, removal from class, bullying, detentions and disruptive behaviour
  • Promote emotional literacy, truth telling, responsibility, accountability & conflict resolution skills.

The course is suitable for senior leadership, teaching, pastoral, support staff as a refresher or as an introduction to restorative approaches within schools.

It is also suitable for local authority staff, care home staff and alternative provision.
