Royal Borough of Greenwich RA Conference 2023 -A Balancing Act: exploring power dynamics in restorative practice

RJC Approved CPD RJC Approval Reference: RJCRBG270423 The Royal Borough of Greenwich RA conference 2023, delivered in partnership with the University of Greenwich, will create a reflective space for practitioners and students to consider the intricacies and impact of power in restorative practice. The in-person event will include contributions from academics, individuals with lived experience and practitioners from the field and will support participants to understand how to recognise and manage the power dynamics at play in restorative processes.

 

 

 

 

 

The Royal Borough of Greenwich Restorative Practice conference, delivered in partnership with the University of Greenwich, will create a reflective space for practitioners, students and academics to consider the important emerging topic of power in restorative practice. The in-person event will support participants to understand how to recognise and manage the power dynamics at play in restorative processes.

PRESENTATIONS FROM

Professor Darrick Jolliffe ‘A Balancing Act - how to use the power of evidence to support powerful practice’. Professor of Criminology at University of Greenwich, Darrick will be talking about his observations on repeating the important Strang Review and understanding what the evidence for RJ tells us about practice.

Professor Claire Monks: ‘Power Play-thinking about bullying, power and repair in schools and beyond’. Professor of Developmental Psychology at University of Greenwich Claire will be presenting some of her research in relation to what works to overcome bullying

Dr Abu Zaman – ‘Displacement of Power: the importance of quality in RP Training’.

WORKSHOP SESSIONS

The power of personal stories in RP – delivered by storyteller and RJ practitioner Hannah Moore. This session will explore the facilitators’ role in enabling the most effective sharing of stories in restorative practice, including practical insights and techniques.

Exploring Co-production in RP – delivered by experienced community engager, support worker and restorative practitioner Winston Allamby this session will explore how restorative processes can use the concept of co-production more effectively in practice.

Practitioner Profiles - hear from restorative practitioners in a range of professional settings about how they have been inspired by RP and use it in their roles

Presentations to students who have attained the Royal Borough of Greenwich and University of Greenwich Level 5 Certificate in Restorative Practice

There will also be plenty of opportunities for networking - to make new connections and develop your insight
