Restorative Stories to Support Practice and Process – 1 Day CPD Event

Folk tales have traditionally been used in cultures across the world to support compassion building, community building, repairing harm and restoring relationships. The RJC, in collaboration with Hannah Moore https://www.hannahmoore.co.uk/ , are holding an innovative Storytelling event to explore the inter-relationship between traditional tales and restorative practice/restorative justice. In this CPD workshop, we will take you on a journey into how working with stories can support accessible, transformative processes for both participants and facilitators alike, how this tool can enhance work with all ages, and how storytelling can be applied in different RP contexts.

Folk tales have traditionally been used in cultures across the world to support compassion building, community building, repairing harm and restoring relationships.

The RJC, in collaboration with Hannah Moore, are holding an innovative Storytelling event to explore the inter-relationship between traditional tales and restorative practice/restorative justice.

In this CPD workshop, we will take you on a journey into how working with stories can support accessible, transformative processes for both participants and facilitators alike, how this tool can enhance work with all ages, and how storytelling can be applied in different RP contexts.

This event is aimed at all colleagues working in the restorative field, including youth and adult justice, social care, health, education and community settings.

Participants will explore:

  • Stories that you could bring to different situations and challenges as a starting point for reflection and discussion
  • Using traditional stories to create safe spaces for sharing personal stories, exploring lived experience and having difficult conversations
  • Using stories to facilitate creative and imaginative exercises for fresh thinking and new ideas - encouraging 'light bulb' moments for participants
  • Techniques for how to tell stories and bring them to life vividly
  • Looking at how these tools can be applied in all areas of Restorative Practice

The event will take place at a spacious venue in Central London on Thursday 26th March 2026 from 09:30am -16:30pm

The training day will be followed by an evening performance of Restorative Stories - a feast of folk and fairy tales that explore the themes of harm and repair. These stories invite listeners to delve into meaningful questions about healing and reconciliation and to find fresh ideas and understanding. The performance will run from 6:30-8pm and is open to the public. All attendees of the training course are welcome to stay for the evening, with entry included in their workshop fee.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTER

Hannah Moore https://www.hannahmoore.co.uk/

Hannah’s background is as a theatre-maker and event producer, specialising in creative workshops and social dance experiences that bring people together and sneakily contain a lot of joy. In recent years she has also developed her practice as a restorative justice practitioner and mediator, alongside working as a storyteller and facilitator, holding safe spaces for people to explore deep things together. Her work focuses on intra & interpersonal restoration - restoration of spirit, connection, hope, possibility, purpose, resilience, emotional capacity and energy - all the things that we might speak of when we use the term ‘wellbeing’, with recognition of how deeply and holistically these things affect us.

Trained as a professional storyteller by the School of Storytelling on their flagship course Storytelling Beyond Words, Hannah has since taught, performed and facilitated programmes with the School for Storytelling, and taken her storytelling work out to a wide range of contexts.

She is a recipient of the Arts Council’s Develop Your Creative Practice Fund, currently using the grant to develop the work she does as a professional storyteller working with restorative practitioners and peacebuilding communities.
