Charlotte Calkin is the Director of the Restorative Engagement Forum. She has worked in the restorative world for over 10 years as a trainer, facilitator and consultant and has worked extensively in both the fields of restorative justice (RJ) and restorative practice (RP). REF work with organisations across a range of sectors implementing RJ and RP including: health, education, the Criminal Justice System, statutory agencies and the executive workplace, working with organisations as diverse as the National Trust and the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct) embedding a restorative culture.

Charlotte has a Masters in Applied Criminology from Cambridge University (analysing Restorative Practice in UK prisons with a comparison to RP in schools) and is an Accredited Restorative Justice Practitioner since 2012 (expertise in Complex and Sensitive Cases).
REF hold the Howard League Award for Restorative Approaches (2016) for their Police/Youth forums.

REF is working to embed restorative practice in 5 UK prisons. REF have delivered RJ training in 12 UK counties. Recent projects include: with the British Council in Colombia (2019-2020) working with 50 young offenders on a restorative justice community re-integration project. A restorative justice workshop at the UN Commission on Crime Prevention (2018) and at the TEDSummit in Canada in 2017. Charlotte speaks widely at conferences and also introduced the topic of RJ to the Justice Select Committee Enquiry.

The training we offer is bespoke for every organisation and can include:

Restorative conversations (1 day)
Restorative Level 2 facilitator training (3 - 4 days)
Complex and Sensitive RJ training and Using RJ in cases of Sexual Harm and Domestic Abuse (2-3 days)

We also offer supervision and mentoring.
When working with organisations we offer consultancy to build a restorative approach across all systems and practices.
