Restorative Justice in the Magistrates Court

This publication has been developed by the Restorative Justice Council as an introduction to restorative justice in cases involving defendants / offenders aged 18 and over in courts in England and Wales.

The Restorative Justice Council (RJC), which is the independent voice for restorative practice, is keen to raise awareness amongst magistrates about the restorative process. Restorative justice is a very useful additional tool that can be used in sentencing with proven benefits for both victims and offenders.

This publication replaces the information contained in the Magistrates Association Guide to Restorative Justice (February 2015), Restorative justice in the magistrates’ courts (December 2014) and Restorative justice and the judiciary (October 2015).
