Home Affairs Committee recommends restorative justice to Independent Police Complaints Commission
Restorative justice presents 'rich avenues' for improving the handling of police complaints, a report of the Home Affairs Select Committee into the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) found.
Former RJC Chair, Lawrence Kershen QC, and other experts presented to the Committee about the use of restorative justice and complaints.
The Committee recommended that the IPCC set out best practice protocols for the use of restorative justice and mediation in appropriate cases. It also found that its use should be independently monitored to ensure that it is used appropriately.
