Dorset Police - Safe Schools and Communities team is running a three-day restorative justice facilitators course on 18-20 September 2018.

Restorative approaches enable those who have been harmed to convey the impact of the harm to those responsible, and for those responsible to acknowledge this impact and take steps to put it right.

Restorative approaches refer to a range of methods and strategies which can be used both to prevent relationship-damaging incidents from happening and to resolve them if they do happen.

 Aims:

To provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding of restorative practices.

Target group:

This course is designed for any person working with children and young people who needs to use restorative practice

On successful completion, delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the theories behind restorative practices
  • Assess the suitability of a restorative conference,
  • Prepare participants for a conference
  • Facilitate and evaluate a conference

Completion of the course requires a practical assessment—all days of the course must be attended

Venue and arrangements:

  • The course will take place at Ferndown Police Station 0930-1630 hours each day
  • Refreshments will be provided, but lunch will not be provided.
  • Full joining instructions (including directions) will be sent out soon after the closing date
  • The fee for the course is £250 per delegate

After completion of this course, staff can opt to become an accredited RJ facilitator through the RJC.

Full charges will apply if you do not turn up on the day or you cancel after the closing date. Another person may take your place with prior notification.
