Mediation involves the intervention into a conflict or dispute by a trained third party. This third party is independent of the conflict and assists the parties to negotiate a settlement agreeable to both sides.

Mediation is suitable for all types of disputes including commercial, civil, workplace, community, family, property, and medical.

Many people don’t know how mediation works or the benefits and cost‐savings that are achievable.

Mediation is a highly effective way of resolving conflict and it can have staggering results. Studies have shown success rates exceeding 80%. There are also significant cost and time saving when compared to litigation and the courts.

Some of the exciting events happening during Mediation Awareness Week are:

  • London Mediators Day with the launch of the week on Saturday 14 October.
  • Mediating medical cases after Charlie Gard, on Monday 16 October.
  • The art of mediation – using mediation to resolve disputes in the art market, on Tuesday 17 October.
  • Property and consumer disputes – a mock mediation and case review, on Friday 20 October.
