For staff and practitioners wishing to increase their knowledge and skills in order to develop, implement and support a Restorative Approach.

Salus - Restorative Approaches (Skills Based) 3 Day Training

Building and Repairing Relationships as an approach to Behaviour Management

By the end of the course, attendees will have:

  • an understanding of the principles of Restorative Justice and Restorative Approaches
  • an understanding of how to implement and embed approaches, and the benefits of doing so
  • a range of restorative skills: mediation, active listening restorative language, classroom skills, de-escalation strategies
  • and restorative conferencing
  • a clear understanding of systems, procedures and policies

Potential benefits from the implementation of a Restorative Approach within, for example, a school:

  • Reduction in exclusions
  • Reduction in incidents of anti-social behaviour
  • Increase in attendance
  •  Reduction in staff absence, turnover and stress
  • A more positive learning environment with a focus on building and repairing relationships

What teachers and practitioners have said about this training…

"Before the implementation of this approach we were managing behaviour, but we weren't changing it. Restorative Practices has been the difference."

"Restorative approaches have contributed towards a calmer environment around school. There is a lot more talking and listening now, rather than shouting and blaming."
