Restorative Leaders’ Summit

As society grapples with complex challenges, restorative practices provide transformative solutions. They empower communities to take ownership, foster accountability, and promote collaboration. At this summit, we’ll focus on addressing youth disengagement, a pressing issue with alarming trends: nearly 1 million young people are currently unemployed, particularly among young men. The government’s Youth Guarantee initiative aims to provide opportunities for young people to earn or learn, but innovative restorative strategies are needed to reconnect these youth with opportunities. Join us in this transformative conversation to create change in our communities. Your voice and experiences are essential to shaping a restorative future.

Restorative Leaders’ Summit
Reclaiming Futures: Empowering Youth Through Restorative Practices

The Restorative Justice Council invites you to join us for our 7th Restorative Leaders’ Summit, a premier gathering designed specifically for practitioners, community leaders, and advocates well-versed in restorative justice principles. This summit presents a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding and enhance your application of restorative practices in real-world contexts.

As our society faces increasingly complex challenges rooted in harm, conflict, and inequality, it is imperative that we explore more inclusive and sustainable approaches. Restorative practice offers a transformative pathway that shifts power back into the hands of the community, fostering a profound sense of ownership, accountability, and collaboration among its members.

At this year’s Summit, you will have the opportunity to explore how restorative practices can directly address the pressing issue of youth disengagement in today's society.

Recent data from the Office for National Statistics paints a troubling picture: at the end of 2024, nearly 1 million young people (13.4% of those aged 16 to 24) were not engaged in work, education, or training, the highest rate in over a decade. This increase is particularly notable among young men, with 14.4% falling into the NEET (not in education, employment, or training) category, compared to 12.3% of young women.

In light of these challenges, the government's Youth Guarantee initiative aims to provide every young person with the chance to "earn or learn." Nonetheless, effectively addressing these issues requires innovative restorative strategies that can reconnect youth to education and employment pathways.
