Restorative Practice Training and Implementation Course

This 2-day in-person training equips participants with the knowledge and skills to apply good quality relational and restorative thinking and practices in their work. The course is suitable for staff working in or with schools, whose role involves dealing with conflict. If your school or service is new to restorative approaches, we advise that you send at least two people to ensure that the learning from the course can be implemented. Included within the course is a follow-up implementation meeting to support the development of an implementation and evaluation plan. This training is necessarily rigorous and challenging. We work in an inclusive and participatory style that models the restorative process itself, ensuring participants learn within a supportive, safe environment. The cost includes registration for both days, a follow up implementation meeting, a training course manual, refreshments, and lunch. The course is facilitated by Terence Bevington and Frances Jessie of Conexus Conflict Consultancy.

Aim
The aim of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to be competent and confident entry-level restorative practitioners, and to begin to develop a strategic implementation plan.

Objectives
1. To provide participants with a solid grounding in the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of restorative practice
2. To build participants’ understanding of the benefits, the boundaries and the opportunities for working restoratively
3. To develop the skills to undertake good quality restorative enquiry and facilitate good quality restorative meetings
4. To identify opportunities to apply restorative thinking and practice in their role
5. To begin to develop a restorative implementation plan.
