Restorative Approaches Practitioner Training

This 3-day interactive course trains participants to be restorative practitioners and will use a variety of materials, including videos , PowerPoint, role-play and group work activities. This course will be delivered online, with some self-directed tasks. Participants will have access to digital downloads and some physical resources to accompany the training.

A restorative justice approach is a dynamic and exciting concept dealing with conflict at all levels, and is currently being used in communities, schools, care homes, police service, prisons and youth o ending services to great e ect. Salus is a lead training provider that has been awarded a quality mark for its training courses from the Restorative Justice Council (RJC).

This dynamic 3-day training course looks at the use of restorative approaches to help promote positive relationships in a variety of settings. It explores the key themes of this approach and a range of skills to help prevent conflict from escalating. Attendees are also trained to deliver restorative conferences.

Aims and Objectives 

  • To gain knowledge of restorative justice and to consider how it is applied in a variety of settings.
  • To explore alternative methods of behaviour management that avoids confrontation and escalation.
  • To explore the dynamics of conflict and understand the range of needs that are involved when things go wrong.
  • To learn de-escalation strategies and key skills in active listening to help restore and repair.
  • To practice a range of skills in the use of restorative language and e ective questioning to promote positive
  • communication between parties in conflict, including restorative conferences.
