Hate Crime and Restorative Justice

This half day seminar will focus on how to approach hate crime cases after they have been referred for Restorative Justice.

Last October, Why me? published two papers about the use of Restorative Justice for hate crime. We held a conference about how to increase the availability of RJ for victims of hate, which was well attended and received positive feedback.

Nine months on, we are moving the conversation forward.

This seminar will focus on how to approach hate crime cases after they have been referred for Restorative Justice.

Attendees will get:

  • Guidance on considerations to have while working with victims of hate from different minority groups.
  • Advice on how to work with indirect perpetrators -such as gyms/pubs/clubs - in hate crime cases.
  • A discussion which troubleshoots common problems which can occur when using Restorative Justice for hate crime.
  • To learn what other areas are doing regarding Restorative Justice and hate crime, and to share experiences.
