RJC training organisation membership terms and conditions

  1. By making an application to join the Restorative Justice Council (RJC) as a training organisation member your organisation (‘the member’) agree to the following terms and conditions.
     

  2. By making this application you declare that you (‘the member contact’) have the authority to bind the member to these terms.
     

  • Application to join the RJC

    1. To apply to join the RJC your organisation must:

      • Agree to pay the membership fee (see Annex 1)

      • Supply the RJC with the organisation’s name, email address and phone number

      • Supply the RJC with your name, email, phone number.

      • Agree to abide by the RJC Restorative Service Standards, where applicable

      • Agree to abide by the RJC Trainers Code of Practice

         

  • Payment and refund of fees

    1. By applying to join the RJC your organisation agrees to pay the membership fee within 30 days of receipt of an invoice.
       

    2. The membership fee is for one year of membership. Membership starts from the date of application. The amount of the membership fee is as advertised at the time of joining or renewal at www.restorativejustice.org.uk/restorative-justice-council-membership
       

    3. If the application is unsuccessful for any reason or the application is withdrawn within seven days of being made (regardless of whether it has been accepted) the member will be entitled to a full refund of the fee. Where the member cancels its membership of the RJC after seven days of its application the member agrees to pay the full membership fee for the year.
       

    4. The RJC reserves the right to introduce payment methods allowing the member to pay its annual fee in monthly instalments.Where the registration fee is paid in monthly instalments the member is still liable to pay the fee for the entire year should monthly payments be cancelled before the end of twelve months.

    1. RJC members receive membership services and have constitutional rights.
       

RJC membership services

RJC  organisation membership includes the following membership services:

  • Access to free online resources for named staff and volunteers

  • Multiple hard copies of each issue of the RJC’s magazine

  • Monthly e-bulletins sent directly to named staff and volunteers

  • Discounted entry to RJC and partner organisations’ events for staff and volunteers.

  • Free advertising of relevant jobs and events

  • Free advertising of relevant training courses

  • Listing on the RJC Trainers Register
     

RJC constitutional membership

To be a constitutional member (also known as ‘formal membership’) of the RJC an organisation must agree:

  • To the vision of the Restorative Justice Council:
    “Our vision is that every person harmed by crime or conflict should have the opportunity to resolve it through a restorative process.” RJC vision (2010)

  • That in the event that the RJC is dissolved with outstanding debts/liabilities, including the expenses of winding up the organisation, to contribute up to £5 towards those debts/liabilities.

 

RJC constitutional members vote for the Membership Trustees on the RJC’s Board of Trustees and may attend the RJC Annual General Meeting free of charge. Staff and volunteers of the member may also stand as Membership Trustees in their own right with the agreement of the member. Organisations may still receive RJC membership services whilst waiving constitutional membership and voting rights. Organisations who have waived constitutional membership are included in the term ‘RJC members’ for the purposes of these terms and conditions.

 

RJC membership and registration renewal

The RJC reserves the right to withdraw membership services once the renewal date has passed.

 

Termination of membership

A member will cease to be an RJC member:

When 6 months have passed since the renewal date and no payment of due membership fees has been received, or

When the member resigns its membership of the RJC (excluding to the right to waive formal membership), or

  1. At its discretion, RJC may at any time alter, amend, change, modify or withdraw any of the terms and conditions that comprise this agreement. Membership renewal and continued use of member services shall be deemed acceptance of any changes to these Terms and Conditions.

     

Privacy policy

By accepting these terms and conditions, your organisation agrees to the use of the information provided as set out in the RJC privacy policy. In addition, by accepting these terms and conditions you agree to the following terms relating to access to sensitive personal data and confidential information.
 

Personal data

The RJC will process (non-sensitive) personal data relating to the member contact and the member, including (but not restricted to), the names, email addresses, job titles, employer of the organisation’s staff and volunteers for the purposes of administrating the membership and its benefits.

All such personal data will be processed in accordance with the RJC’s privacy policy and the Data Protection Act 1998.
 

Sensitive personal data

Sensitive personal data includes personal data relating to racial or ethnic origins, political opinions, religious beliefs, membership of trade unions, physical or mental health, sexual life, the commission/alleged commission of alleged commission of any offence by that person or proceedings/disposal of proceedings relating to such an offence.

  1. In so far as the RJC asks for information about the member’s racial or ethnic origins and physical or mental health during the application process for monitoring purposes, the data is automatically anonymised and held separately to the membership records. Once anonymised such data does not constitute personal data for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998.

  2. RJC will not supply data to any third party for marketing purposes without the express agreement of the member. For clarity, membership of the RJC does not in itself constitute consent to share data for marketing purposes.
     

Sharing personal data with third parties
RJC may share member’s personal data with third parties for the administration of their member benefits.

Confidential information

  1. These terms and conditions shall be interpreted in accordance with English law and all disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

     

    1. As part of RJC assessment processes, assessors may be required to look at confidential information about the practitioner or the practitioner’s organisation.  The RJC and RJC assessors will treat applications in the strictest confidence. Confidential information should only be shared with the RJC or RJC assessors where necessary. The practitioner should ensure that all necessary permissions to share any confidential information has been gained. All RJC staff and RJC assessors have signed a confidentiality statement which is included in their contracts.
